Рассмотрены актуальные вопросы формирования библиотечных коллекций брайлевских документов и обеспечения оперативного доступа к ним детям и взрослым - инвалидам по зрению в условиях повсеместного распространения компьютерных технологий. Обсуждается роль специальных и публичных библиотек в сфере распространения и популяризации в различных странах мира системы чтения и письма по Брайлю - основного средства грамотности слепых.

The actual problems of formation of library collections of braille documents and providing prompt access to children and adults - sight-disabled persons in the conditions of universal currency of computer technologies. The role of special and public libraries in the outreach and popularization around the world of Braille reading and writing - the basic tools of literacy for the Blind is discussed.
