В статье рассматриваются тенденции развития, различные подходы и методы оценки эффективности зарубежных библиотек. Особое внимание уделено такому методу, как определение рентабельности капиталовложений в библиотечную деятельность или стоимость библиотеки. Рассказывается о проведенных в ряде учебных заведений США и Канады исследованиях эффективности вузовских библиотек, в которых изложенные подходы к оценке рентабельности зарекомендовали себя с лучшей стороны.
The article considers the development trends, various approaches and methods of evaluation of efficiency in foreign libraries. Special attention is given to the method of determining the profitability of investments in the library activities or in the value of library. There are described the studies, conducted in a number of educational institutions in the U.S. and Canada, devoted to the effectiveness of University libraries, which approaches on evaluating profitability proved to be deserving positive attention.
