Рассматривается история формирования фондов Российской государственной библиотеки искусств (РГБИ) как библиотеки специальной, чьей миссией является библиотечное и информационное обслуживание по проблемам искусства и культуры. Основное внимание уделено театральным коллекциям, поскольку библиотека создавалась как учебная при Академическом Малом театре и долгие годы функционировала в качестве центральной театральной библиотеки страны.
The paper describes the history of formation of Collections of the Russian State Arts Library (RSAL) as a Special Library, which Mission is Library and Information Services in the filed of Arts and Culture. The main attention is devoted to the Theatre Collections, because the library was founded as a School Library at the Academic Maly Theatre and for many years it functioned as the Central Theatre Library of the country.
