Library System of Germany: a typological review

Abstract

The paper considers different library types of Germany based on the proceedings of the seminar training “Librarianship in Germany” (Berlin-Leipzig, 24-31 July, 2011). The author highlights interconnection of typological functions with historical and social development. On the basis of statistical data the article estimates library significance within the bounds of considered type.
