National Standards in the Libraries of the People’s Republic of China and the Problem of their Efficiency

Abstract

The article emphasizes the up-to-date trend in the international library science on careful study of standards for libraries. Definite causality of this work in the socio-economical environment of the library is specified. The new standards include seven basic parts and have made revisions in several important aspects. There are analyzed the specific features of Chinese librarians’ activities on creation and implementation of the national standards for public libraries for the purpose to increase the library efficiency.
