Abstract

The possibilities of artificial intelligence (AI) application in the National Library of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) are studied. The works by domestic specialists proving the advantages of AI for effective information retrieval, resource formation, digitalization of service processes and big data analysis are considered. The experience of the National Library of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) shows positive results of integration of AI technologies. A number of AI products modernizing library services have been analyzed. The central element is the use of API of the GigaChat neural network model for the development of own products and services. Six innovative projects implemented in the library are described in detail: VoiceNLRS voice data collection platform, speech synthesizer in Yakut language “Istin”, chatbot “Yakutia Expert”, document handling service “AI-Text”, telegram bot “Yakutia Digital Librarian”, module of automated cataloging based on AI (AI-Cataloging). These solutions increase the efficiency of user service, improve interaction with library resources and contribute to the digitalization of library processes. A comparative analysis of similar projects abroad is carried out. The issues of creating a unified AI platform of a new generation for libraries are raised, the associated challenges and risks are analyzed. The paper proposes ways for libraries to develop in the field of AI and aims to provoke a discussion in the library community about the future application of AI in libraries.
