Abstract
The article is devoted to the multidimensional problem of preservation of electronic information. There is analyzed the experience of the past to preserve the printed information on paper. At present all the information environment has become more complex and diverse, a lot of new kinds and types of information and its media have appeared; however, the philosophical basis and realistic objectives for the long-term preservation of digital information are still missing. It is highlighted that the preservation of electronic information can be achieved only through forming and implementation of effective targeted policy and sustained activities at global and national levels. There were defined the first priority tasks for preservation of electronic information resources.

Abstract
There are characterized the main and common qualities and properties for printed and electronic documents, including criteria of classification, such as material form of the data carrier, its content (subject), purpose (function), reader's address and language. All these criteria are actual in the current Russian legislation on legal deposit. There is proved the necessity of introduction of one more criterion of classification of legal deposit of any document, and especially of printed book editions, which is the criterion of its social significance.

The powers certainly understand the need to struggle drunkenness, but for a long time for sobering up people almost did not take. The article analyzes the activities of the libraries in Stalingrad (as of 1961 - Volgograd) Region. There are considered the conditions of the development of library system in the region: material and technical base and staffing problem.
