The sixth issue for 2018 year is published!

The issue provides an open access to some articles related with the current trends in Library and Information Science field.

The article Operation of Legal Deposit System and the Ways of its Improvement by Nikolay A. Sakharov, Adviser to Directorate of the Russian State Library (RSL), continues the previous issue publication and fully describes the present situation in Russian legal deposit system. It covers the problems of the national library collection acquisition and modern scientific knowledge preservation from a historical perspective, and offers different ways to solve these challenges. It also focuses on “Declaration of the Russian State Library on the work with Legal Deposit copy of the printed publication in electronic form”.

 

The “International Content” section contains article Digital Services of the National Library of Korea: Current State and Tasks by Sulhee Cho, Head of Sector for Digital Services Planning of the National Library of Korea. The author describes the Three-year digital service plan in the context of the National Library of Korea goals and objectives: the library holdings expansion in the digital environment, the improvement of digital resources operation and mobile services, and humanities knowledge promotion through digitization. The article based on the papers of the 6-th Russian – Korean workshop on actual problems in Library Science and Information field, that held in August 2018 in the Russian State Library.

 

Particular attention should be given to the work Fundamental Study of the Legendary Bibliophile Edition by Alexandr Y. Samarin, Deputy Director General for Research and Publishing, RSL . It presents the analysis of the new book of the famous bibliophile, researcher and populariser of rare books and bibliophilism, the Chairman of the National Union of Bibliophiles M.V. Seslavinsky about the history of creation, specific aspects  of publishing and art design of the famous bibliophilic edition “Cantata” by A.A. Sidorov (Moscow, 1921). It also outlines the approaches to unique editions research that could be the basis for a study of bibliophile book as a cultural phenomenon and a direction of book publishing activity.

 

The feature of the last year issue is title and author indexes, so that there is an opportunity to look for an article through website search form but also to get a picture of all publications for 2018 year sorted by content section.
