“And Each Reader as a Mystery...” (Association area of the word “reading”)

Abstract

The article is a mini-survey based on the usage of the methods of studying subjective views on the readers' activities. It was carried out among the students of the Bryansk State University named after I.G. Petrovsky (370 respondents) and the Bryansk Branch of Moscow University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia (324 respondents). The image of a modern young reader is reconstructed on the basis of the analysis of the recorded associations to the word reading: his preferences as a reader, his expectations and culture, his readiness for the full comprehension of the printed text.
