One of the problems existing in science is the use of scientific research results in practice. The aims of the article are to show, through a review of foreign literature and the results of a survey of domestic experts in the field of library science and librarianship, the reasons for the disconnection between science and practice, as well as to identify the steps necessary for practice to benefit from research. The problem is posed from the perspective of post-non-classical science as applied to library science and librarianship. The reasons for the lack of transfer of scientific results into practice, identified by foreign authors, are given. The rating of the reasons noted by domestic experts, who put the technical backwardness of libraries and the lack of motivation of specialists to implement the results of scientific work in practice in the first place, is presented. Various options for solving the problem of non-use of scientific results in practice are analyzed and evaluated. Ways to eliminate the problem: using different ways to attract and expand the participation of practitioners in theoretical research, increasing their research activity; dissemination of research results, including overcoming the deficit of publications and increasing their number written by practitioners; continuing professional education. It is concluded that if we proceed from post-nonclassical science, it becomes clear why the results of scientific research conducted on the basis of one library cannot be applied to another: the peculiarities of one library are not absolute, they depend on existing situational relationships. The non-use of modern scientific results in librarianship is also related to the dependence of science on the socio-cultural environment and the inclusion of value attitudes. Among the ways to bridge this gap are the following: creating special publications for practitioners, webinars, face-to-face meetings and conversations between researchers and practitioners. One method of improving the link between research and practice is to include research reports (research reviews) in newsletters, various periodicals often read by practitioners.

The relevance of bibliometric analysis of publications on the application of the Library and Bibliographic Classification (LBC) is due to the scale and pace of fundamental transformations in Russia. At the end of the 20th century the practice of bibliographic reflection of the documentary flow on the issues of the Soviet LBC was broken. In 1990 a retrospective scientific and auxiliary index of works on a wide range of LBC-related problems published in our country and abroad was published for the last time. For more than thirty years the needs for completeness of information and bibliographic support of specialists engaged in the development, study and implementation of the LBC have significantly increased. The gradual obsolescence of any library classification used for systematization of the colossal document flow has caused the increased scientific interest in the development of the concept of a new edition of the LBC Medium Schedules.
The purpose of bibliometric analysis of publications on LBC issues is to determine the directions of scientific research of this problematic. To achieve this goal, a scientific and auxiliary index on LBC was formed, which included 219 publications (from 2001 to 2023 editions). The search was carried out using the keywords “Library and Bibliographic Classification” and “LBC” on the electronic resources of the Russian State Library, in the scientific electronic library elibrary.ru, on the official websites of Russian libraries of different subordination, on the portal of the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO). The object of analysis is the flow of publications on the theory and practice of this classification system.
The instrumental apparatus includes both general scientific and special methods of quantitative and qualitative study of flows of scientific and information documents.
Bibliometric analysis of publications on the theory and practice of LBC application allowed us to identify the main directions of scientific research in this problem area.

On the basis of letters from the collection No. 342 of the Manuscripts Department of the Russian State Library (RSL) the co-operation of the famous Russian antiquarian book dealer of the late 19th — early 20th century P.P. Shibanov with the members of the House of Romanov in the field of formation of their personal libraries is studied. The study was carried out with the aim of obtaining reliable information about the editions offered to complete the personal libraries of the Imperial House. On the basis of previously unexplored sources the assortment of P.P. Shibanov’s booksellers, presented for purchase to the members of the Imperial Family, is revealed. The letters from the Shibanov collection of the RSL were received by the bookseller from high-ranking officials of the courts of the grand dukes and grand duchesses, and in some cases directly from members of the dynasty. The material gives an idea of the spheres of intellectual predilections of the Romanovs, of their interest in rare and ancient editions, among which were books of the 17th—18th centuries. The prices for books indicated in the letters are of no small importance. Among the information about the booksellers’ assortment offered to the Romanovs we should mention the books that for one reason or another did not interest the members of the dynasty during the preliminary acquaintance and were returned to the bookseller.
In the course of the research, the drafts of P.P. Shibanov’s letters to the Moscow Governor-General, Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich, were revealed, and the exchange of telegrams with the Pushkin enthusiast, Prince Oleg Konstantinovich of Imperial Blood, was analyzed.
Most of the letters were received from the court offices of the Grand Dukes Nikolai Mikhailovich (a famous historian), Konstantin Konstantinovich and Pyotr Nikolayevich (through the court office of the latter the sending of books to his wife, Grand Duchess Militsa Nikolaevna, for familiarization was discussed). The letters we have identified cover mainly the late 1890s — early 1900s; the latest are a telegram from Prince Oleg Konstantinovich of Imperial Blood, received by P.P. Shibanov in 1913, and a letter from the court office of Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich in 1915.
The studied letters reveal the book assortment offered by P.P. Shibanov to the members of the Imperial Family and the book preferences of the Romanovs, but do not indicate whether these books were purchased by them.

Students are in a continuous process of communication, using various information environments and electronic resources of the Internet. But at the same time they do not interact with libraries enough, they do not know their capabilities. This paper highlights the issue of effective use of modern technologies to create forms and methods of reference and bibliographic services adapted to the information needs of students. The purpose of the article is to identify the experience of foreign university libraries aimed at attracting students and increasing their awareness of reference services on the basis of publications in English-language periodicals. Readers belonging to the Internet generation are an active segment of the target audience, and specialists of reference and bibliographic services should study their individual information needs and purposefully promote library resources and services oriented to the youth audience. One of the ways to solve these problems is to organize library cooperation programmes, where librarians integrate their knowledge and skills into the educational process, being in constant contact with both students and university lecturers. The article considers the key vectors of development of reference and bibliographic services in the conditions of modern society. It is concluded that students prefer a multi-level hybrid model of reference bibliographic service with the fulfillment of user requests (remotely and face-to-face) in the context of their personal preferences in combination with independent search using information resources of libraries.
HISTORICAL EXPERIENCE AND RECONSTRUCTIONS
In the article on the basis of the analysis of the three-volume printed catalogue “Library of D.V. Ulyaninsky” (Moscow, 1912—1915) and the manuscript “Catalogue of New Acquisitions of the Library of Dimitri Vasilievich Ulyaninsky” the question of the acquisition of doublet copies from the Library of the Moscow Public and Rumyantsev Museums by a bibliophile is considered. The practice of selling books from the doublet collection of this book depository is little studied. The annual reports of the Moscow Public and Rumyantsev Museums present only data on the total amount of cash receipts under this item. The materials of D.V. Ulyaninsky allow us to examine in more detail the practice of private individuals buying copies from the doublet collection of the oldest public library in Moscow. On the basis of the studied data we can conclude that the doublet collection of the Moscow Public and Rumyantsev Museums was a valuable source of replenishment of private book collections with rare editions sold at relatively low prices.
- The private publishing house of V.Z. Yaksanov is the only private publishing house in the Saratov province, which operated until 1917, and fully resumed its work under Soviet rule, during the NEP period.
- The credo of V.Z. Yaksanov, the publisher: full support for education and science. In 1922-1925, his private enterprise published monographs by scientists of Saratov University, educational and bibliographic publications, and popular essays.
- Only the private publishing house of V.Z. Yaksanov in the first decade of Soviet power published books on historical and religious subjects in the Saratov province, in support of the Old Believers' movement.
- Since the beginning of the Soviet period, V.Z. Yaksanov's publishing house was one of the first in the Saratov province to start publishing illustrated, multicolored books for children, designed by famous local artists.
- The distinctive features of V.Z. Yaksanov's book publishing products are the consistently high quality of printing, reference equipment, and the availability of illustrative material.
In the history of book publishing in the Saratov region, the name of Vasily Zakharovich Yaksanov (1887—1935) holds a special place. He was one of the first to combine the functions of author, publisher and printer, playing the role of a link between pre-revolutionary and Soviet book publishing. The printing house he opened in 1910 was nationalized in 1919. In 1922 V.Z. Yaksanov founded a private book publishing house, which produced books until 1925, and in the first Soviet decade was the owner of the bookstores “Druker” and “Virgin Soil”, which also acted as publishing organisations. The range of products of his publishing house included books of scientific, popular science, educational, artistic, information and reference nature. V.Z.Yaksanov paid special attention to supporting the scientific activities of teachers of the Imperial Nikolaev University (since 1923 — the N.G. Chernyshevsky Saratov State University), as well as children’s literature. Being a prominent figure of the Old Believer Church, at the same time he printed materials devoted to the history of the Old Orthodox Pomor Church. Due to the fact that not many studies have been written about V.Z. Yaksanov’s contribution to regional book publishing, it seems important to analyze the factography of V.Z. Yaksanov’s book publishing activities in the first Soviet decade, to clarify the information about the books and brochures that his printing house and publishing house were involved in publishing. If we summarize V.Z. Yaksanov’s competences as a printer, publisher and owner of a bookshop (which is a publishing organisation), we can talk about 38 identified titles of books and pamphlets published with his direct participation and at his enterprise in the period from 1918 to 1927. In 1918 6 titles were identified, in 1922 — 3, in 1923 — 17, in 1924 — 7, in 1925 — 4, in 1927 — 1).
