On the necessity of a library participation as a social institution in problem-solving of the health preservation in modern Russia.

On the history of the Memorial Book of the Chechen Republic as compared with preparation and publication of similar books in the other country’s regions. Working out of historical and documentary sources and present them a wide public in the long term reconstruction of historical events of the Great Patriotic War is actual.

The main methods of promoting of Sight-disabled persons’ reading on an example of the Bashkir Republican Special Library for the Blind during the last years are considered. The article discloses the advantages of modern information technologies’ using. Specificity of acquisition and improvement of material and technical base are reflected.

The author refutes the established opinion in the domestic and foreign historiography by using recently found archival documents and proves that Vasily Tatischev had to grant his library to Yekaterinburg in 1737 by force of circumstances.

On the meeting of the Editorial Board and editorial staff of the journal “Library and Information Science”, during which the activities for 2010 were summed up and the prospects for 2011 were outlined. The journal’s impact factor of the Russian Science Citation Index is given in the article.
