Measuring the Digital Future: Digital Maturity Models as a Tool for Library Development

Abstract
This article explores the application of digital maturity (DM) models for assessing and managing the digital transformation (DT) of libraries. It is noted that DM models are actively studied in the academic community, and references are provided to the works of domestic and international researchers who have contributed to the development of this field. The purpose of this article is to analyze the structure and main characteristics of DM models, their classification, and applicability for assessing the level of DT in libraries. The objectives include an overview of existing approaches to DM assessment, identifying commonalities and divergences between different models, and determining the key parameters assessed using these models. This paper utilizes an analytical review of the scientific literature on DM models, their structure, operating principles, and practical application. A comparative analysis of DM models is conducted to identify commonalities and divergences. It is emphasized the potential of multi-stage models that evaluate both quantitative indicators and expert assessments. The author identifies the parameters assessed using DM models: the presence of a clear digital strategy and its support by management, effective data management, the availability of a modern IT infrastructure, the development of a digital culture among staff, and process automation. Key elements of the models are also highlighted: key areas (domains), evaluation criteria, and metrics. An example of a DM model based on the Digital Transformation Quality Standard is provided. DM models are an effective tool for identifying priority areas for the further development of libraries in the digital environment. This article is of interest to a wide range of specialists interested in DT, including organizational executives, IT specialists, analysts, and consultants. The results of the study can be used to select and adapt the most appropriate model for assessing the DM of a specific library.
